Audi’s New R8 Spyder – Providing Additional Glamour

When the Audi R8 was first released to the public it became the talk of the town and also gave the entire industry a huge lift. A new supercar was introduced and it was given at a time when Audi were riding a very big wave; and so this new vehicle just catapulted the brand even further and to new heights. The only criticism that came its way was that the R8 did not have a soft top version; something that could show off the presence of the unit even more. Well, after what can now be described as seemingly a lifetime, Audi have now released the R8 Sypder, which is indeed the R8 with a retractable roof. So the idea and concept seems perfect but what about the actual delivery – was it all that is was cracked up to be? Well yes and no is probably the answer because, although this new design is visually beautiful and eccentric, the one element that is not available is what made the original used Audi R8 so popular – the rear end engine being on display via the back window of the car. Now normally this wouldn’t be such a major issue, but the fact that it was indeed this exact feature that was such a unique selling point of the original vehicle; meant that fans were left disappointed when Audi did not transfer this to the new style. Of course the easy argument for this non-inclusion is that it would have been difficult to incorporate both the retractable roof and have the rear window, which was used for displaying the engine. Ok, this part I can understand, but as a true Audi fanatic, the taste of sour disappointment is still raging within!

Aston Martin V12 Vantage – A Personal Favourite

Every now and then I will blog about new cars that have just been introduced into the industry, which I believe have a good chance of becoming firm favourites with the general public. Many moons and keyboards ago, one such car was the used Aston Martin V12 Vantage. And, even though this may have a distance away in the past, the V12 Vantage is still very much a firm personal favourite of mine, Aston Martin and also the industry. Visually stunning, thanks to numerous features such as its striking looks and a low centre of gravity, have cemented the unit into the history books and has helped ensure the brand of Aston Martin has remained among the most valued in the world of automotive. The V12 Vantage truly is an exhilarating sports car, which came into being after it replaced the popular used Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Replacing and also improving on its predecessor was the main task and thanks to the V12’s 6.0 litre engine and 510 BHP, it certainly went a long way to achieving this in a short space of time. Let us begin by talking about Audi. Now this is a car company that has probably grown at a faster rate than any of its competitors over the last 10 years. So why is this? What has Audi done that other manufacturers have been unable to achieve? Well this is obviously down to personal opinion, but I believe that one of the main reasons for the success of Audi is that they are backed by one of the biggest automotive companies in the world, Volkswagen. So what this means is that Audi have a large amount of resources available to them, which has enabled the design and introduction of many Audi cars. Cars such as the A3, A4, A6, TT and R8 are just some of the many, which Audi has to offer, and is why the used Audi cars market is spoilt with choice. The new and used Audi TT has become one of the companies’ flagship vehicles and thanks to its small and unique design, has become an Audi fans’ favourite. But the TT is not the only model that is right up there with the best of them; the A3 and A4 models are also something special and are ever-noticeable on the nations’ roads. The reality then is that Audi have all the financial muscle required to build and construct cars of the highest quality and they have certainly done this in abundance. Of course that is my opinion and no doubt people will have their own views; but if you are backed by one of the leading car manufacturers in the world, it can only help ensure both stability and the future of a brand.

One of the most experience car manufacturers in the automotive industry is indeed Volkswagen who is recognised by many to be the people’s manufacturer. This is a company that has been there, seen it and done it. And all of this has been achieved during times of economic downturns and recessions, which makes their achievements even more impressive.
